Christine
McCormack, who will crown Queen Elect Georgia this year
Christine McCormack
who will crown Queen Elect Georgia Sommerville at
the Bo’ness Children’s Fair Festival on Friday 25th
June, is still on the cloud of wakening in the
morning and saying, “Is it really happening”?
On Saturday, Christine took some
quiet time out from her work to venture down to
Glebe Park to overlook the peaceful arena from the
bandstand in front of Bo’ness Town Hall on a rather
cold snowy afternoon with her dad Robert (Bob) to
most who know him. Come the Fair Day itself,
thousands will gather for the annual crowning
ceremony at the same venue.
No better a fitting place to view
around the park than from the bandstand where, no
doubt her dad would have performed on many an
occasion while playing with Unison Kinneil Band
since his teenage years and he won’t want to remind
anyone that is some 60 years ago since he first
played there. Christine recognises her being chosen
through her dads work with Unison Kinneil Band and
the service of the band to their local primary
school, Kinneil Primary.
Christine herself was brought up at
Deanburn School just a few hundred yards from where
she lived after a few years abroad with her parents
while Bob worked in the Middle East. She has been no
stranger to the Fair front over the years, being a
Flower Girl herself in 1975, then enjoying the
family time as she watched her eldest daughter,
Zayna become a Flower Girl in 2005 and twins Amaara
and Qaila being presentees last year. All three
girls will watch on with their granddad as Christine
crowns the 102nd Fair Queen.
