Chairman's Christmas Message

To all Bo’nessians,

Wherever you are in the world.

We all know that Christmas Day is the most important day for children but we also know, that for the children of Bo’ness ( and many of the adults ) the next most important is the Fair Day.

To that end, I’m happy to inform everyone that the plans are already well in hand for the 25th June 2010, both with the Executive Committee and Kinneil School, whose pupils will elect the next Bo’ness Fair Queen.

This year Shanagh Penman, from Deanburn Primary was elected as our 101st Queen, to follow Eilidh Thomson, from St Marys and both Queens carried out their duties to perfection. It only goes to show, we  ( adults ) might not always get it right when we elect representatives but if we take Shanagh and Eilidh as examples, the children do get it right. Their parents and schools should rightly be proud of two pleasant, well mannered young ladies who have represented their schools and Bo’ness with self confidence and poise.

The 26th of June was a great day, the sun shone and the only rainbows we saw were those of the colourful Deanburn Retinue. Once again the presentees from all six primary schools put on superb musical routines and all the schools should be congratulated, for the consistently high standard the children achieve.

As we reflect on 2009 we are sorry to see some major changes in our executive committee; Three outstanding people are retiring after many years of service; Jeff Stewart from Chairman, Jim Barrowman from Catering Convenor and John Johnston from Treasurer. All three will be presented with the award of “Honorary Members of Bo’ness Fair” on the 16th of December, as a thank you from the people of Bo’ness, for the time and effort they have put in over the years to make it.

“The Best Day of the Year”

However, as they say “The show must go on “

The newly formed Executive Committee are fully focused on 25th June 2010.

So whether you will be involved as a character, parent of a character, building arches, decorating vehicles, making outfits, fund raising or just looking forward to going to “The Fair”,   I am confident that it will be a terrific day and on behalf of the Bo’ness Fair Executive Committee may I extend our best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

 Have a Merry Christmas

 A Happy New Year

 And of course

 A Happy Fair Day

 Jim Stewart
 Chairman
