INCLEMENT WEATHER ARRANGEMENTS
IF THE WEATHER IS FINE
Pupils can be collected at the fenced area of the Douglas Park, each school has a clearly marked exit. Parents should wait there, but should not enter the fenced area. Presentees can be collected in the Douglas Park after they have danced at the Royal Command Performance. Usually between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. The Retinue can be collected at the end of the Royal Command Performance at 4.15pm.
IF IT IS POOR BUT THERE IS A DEFINATE CHANCE OF THE WEATHER IMPROVING
The crowning will be delayed until 11.30am. The Grand Parade/Procession will still take place as near 12 noon as possible with the presentees being presented to the Queen but not performing.
IF THE WEATHER BREAKS DOWN DURING THE MORNING
The Fair Committee will provide Rapmacs so that:
The pupils of the St Mary's School will attend the Town Hall to see the crowning of their Queen and can be collected from the Town Hall at 12 noon.
The pupils of the Grange, Public and Kinneil Schools will return to their schools. They should be collected from the school. The pupils of Deanburn School will go to the Public School and be collected from Braehead Avenue (main entrance). Blackness School pupils will be bussed to Blackness School.
The Retinue, Flower Girls, Fairies and Presentees will attend the Town Hall for the Crowning and will take part in the procession using the trailers provided by the Fair Committee.
The Retinue will have lunch in the Town Hall and can be collected at the end of the Royal Command Performance at approximately 4.15pm. If the weather is poor the Royal Command Performance will take place in the Town Hall.
The Fairies & Flower Girls can be collected at Kinneil School at the end of the procession. Presentees will then be bussed to the Town Hall, if the weather is still bad, to dance in the Royal command Performance. Presentees can be collected at the Town Hall as appropriate once they have performed.
If the Crowning is in the Town Hall, only The Retinue, Presentees and the pupils of the St Mary's School are admitted. The only adults allowed are the Fair Guests and the Retinue parents who will be issued with special tickets. If the weather has been bad in the morning, it is unlikely that the Royal Command Performance will take place in the Douglas Park and will take place, instead, in the Town Hall. Entry is free to the public but is limited to the numbers allowed by hall regulations.
IF THE WEATHER IS SEVERE EARLY IN THE MORNING
The school will be informed at 8.30 and the school processions to the Town Hall will be cancelled. Transport will be sent so that Fairies, Flower Girls, and Presentees can attend the crowning. Parents can collect Fairies and Flower Girls at the Kinneil School after the procession, and the Presentees after performing at the Town Hall where the Retinue can be collected at 4.15pm
As it is a school day, the Fair Chairman will consult with school Head Teachers who will have the final say on the pupil arrangements in light of changing weather conditions.
