Bo’ness Lose Bill Braid

Bill Braid was known around the town for his love of football and The Fair.  I first met him at a Bo’ness United match and over the weeks to follow he became a friend and someone whom I would say had time for anyone who was prepared to listen to him and share in his knowledge of Bo’ness.  From offering to do some early reports from United matches if I wasn’t able to go.
His Fair knowledge was great in building the website and we spoke about it often when we met up at Newtown. His face lit up when David Brown asked his wife Nan to crown Queen Deborah Fraser in 1986.
His final Fair act was to look after all the former queen’s when the celebrations took place for the 100th queen along with Nan in 2008.
He was awarded the Senior Dux of the Academy in 1949 and his future wife was a Flower Girl also from the Academy.
Our thoughts are with Nan, David and his family at this sad time.
