Fair Fact Friday

Did you know that after 30 years of service, the original cornet used in our crowning ceremony had to be replaced? Back in 1927, Provost McKenzie purchased a brand new crown, shown being worn by our 1928 Queen Elizabeth Kay.
The crown was again replaced in 1966 but fast forward to 2024, and our current crown needs some TLC. A talented local seamstress is jazzing up the crown’s fabric to ensure Queen Elect Ella’s comfort this year. We have also applied for help from the BBC show Repair Shop to give it the royal treatment. Fingers crossed for our submission
